Does it need a special phone case?
No. The universal patch sits between your phone and case so the tether has an attachment point.
Will the patch damage my phone or peel off?
The insert uses no adhesive, so there is nothing to cure or peel away. It sits between your phone and a fitted case, then removes when the case comes off. Nothing is glued to your phone.
How much weight does the tether hold?
The maker does not publish a numeric load rating. The ABS reel and about 60 cm metal cable are intended to keep one phone attached during normal use, not for climbing, lifting or personal safety.
